An Alabama man died Sunday evening after he drowned in a river after falling off a log, officials said Tuesday.

Jesus Garcia-Ruic, 26, of Hoover, Alabama, died Sunday night after investigators said he fell from a stationary log floating in the Cahaba River in Irondale and drowned.

The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m., a Jefferson County Coroner’s Office spokesman said.

Irondale police are investigating the death, the coroner’s office said.
