Alabama Skies: Which areas will have the severe threat today?

Published 1:30 am Saturday, May 20, 2023

Although we have another day with some rain and storms possible, today is a little different than storms we’ve seen the past several days. In northern and central Alabama, especially north of the I-20/59 corridor, rain and storms will begin earlier in the day and we could have a washout for some of us.

A Level 1 risk for severe weather covers a large portion of the state and includes areas from Hamilton to Gadsden all the way south to Troy and Eufaula. The biggest risks today are hail and damaging winds.

North Alabama

Showers are likely with thunderstorms possible. High near 77. Mostly cloudy tonight with a chance of showers and storms. Low of 58.

Central Alabama

South Alabama

Gulf Coast

Fog early, then mostly sunny. A slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. High of 87. Mostly cloudy tonight with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Low of 69.
