An Alabama state inmate was killed Tuesday after he was assaulted by another inmate, a newspaper reported.

Stephone Lvon Marshall was found in his cell by prison officials who then rushed him to the prison’s medical unit, the Montgomery Advertiser reported.

Marshall, 38, died from the injuries he sustained in the attack, Alabama Corrections officials said.

The attack occurred at the Elmore Correctional Facility.

The newspaper reported that a suspect had been identified and the case remained under investigation.
