An Alabama man has been charged with murdering his own father on Mother’s Day.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigators said deputies were called to a residence on County Road 19 in Section, Alabama, at approximately 11:40 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies found Joe Bob Shaver Jr., 74, dead in the front of the residence with “apparent trauma to his head.”

The investigation lead to the arrest of Byron Heath Shavers, 48, of Section.

He was charged with murder and being held without bond.
