An Alabama child was apparently killed early Monday in a house fire after injuries sustained in a residential house fire.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reports that Jeremiah Black, 7, of Birmingham, died at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham shortly after he was taken there following a house fire in the 2200 block of Cedar Crest Drive in Birmingham.

The coroner’s office said the Forestdale Fire Department responded to the residence on reports of a structure fire.

Black and other family members, to include multiple siblings, were rescued from within the residence and transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The fire call occurred just after 1 a.m. Monday and Black was pronounced dead at 2:17 at the hospital. The conditions of other family members was not immediately known.
