Alabama man killed when 18-wheeler crashes into tree, catches fire

An Alabama man was killed his 18-wheeler left the road and struck a tree early Friday before catching fire, state troopers reported.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Moody man.

William A. Chattman-Eady, 24, was fatally injured when the 1997 Freightliner tractor-trailer he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree before catching on fire.

Chattman-Eady was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 145 near the 5 mile marker, approximately 1 mile north of Clanton, in Chilton County.
