An Alabama man was killed early Thursday when his 18-wheeler truck veered off the road, struck a ditch and then flipped over, state police said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Killen, Alabama, man.

Daniel R. Dutton, 50, was fatally injured when the 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer that he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Dutton was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Lauderdale County 108, approximately 5 miles south of Lexington, in Lauderdale County.
