Alabama Skies: Summer pattern of heat, humidity, and storms continues
Published 1:30 am Thursday, May 11, 2023
It’s looking like today will be the best chance for rain and storms of the week for northern Alabama while the southern and Gulf Coast regions will have less of a chance of storms.
Storms could be strong and we’ll have to watch to be sure they don’t approach severe levels. Although we don’t have a risk from the National Weather Service offices covering Alabama, much of Mississippi does have severe weather potential all the way to the Alabama line. It’s possible that a severe storm or two could cross into our area.
Our weather pattern continues for a couple days, but we may have some better weather this weekend and early next week.
North Alabama
Partly sunny with a few showers and storms in the morning, becoming more widespread in the afternoon. High of 84 with wind gusts as high as 20 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy tonight with a few remaining showers or thunderstorms. Low of 65.
Central Alabama
Partly sunny with showers and thunderstorms becoming likely in the afternoon. Breezy with a high of 83. Showers and storms likely tonight with a low of 65.
South Alabama
Partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High of 87. Mostly cloudy tonight with an isolated shower or storm possible. Low of 65.
Gulf Coast
Fog early, then partly sunny. Breezy with an isolated shower or storm possible in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy tonight with a low of 68.
