Investigators have identified the man whose dead body was found decomposing along a roadside.

Officials with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the dead man was Dustin Ryan Butler, 45, of Birmingham.

The grisly discovery of the badly decomposing body was made Wednesday morning by a postal carrier in Mulga.

Jefferson County’s chief deputy coroner Bill Yates said forensic investigators could find no signs of foul play or other trauma that would have led to Butler’s death. Yates said the coroner’s office was awaiting additional lab tests to try and determine the man’s cause of death.
