Alabama Skies: Storms, some possibly severe, today

A few places will squeak out a decent morning, but most of us will have rain and storms by this afternoon and evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed the southeastern corner of Alabama under a Level 1 risk for the potential of severe weather. The risk area includes the southern Montgomery suburbs, Troy, and Eufaula. This area has the potential for a few severe storms, damaging winds, hail, and a brief tornado.
Once we get through the next several hours, we’ll enter a stretch of sunny, pleasant days.
North Alabama
Partly sunny with a few showers possible. Thunderstorms are also possible late this afternoon. High of 78. Showers and storms tonight with a low of 56.
Central Alabama
Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and storms late this afternoon. High near 79. Tonight, showers and storms possible with a low of 55.
South Alabama
Increasing clouds with showers and storms after lunchtime. High of 82. Showers and storms continue tonight with a low of 56.
Gulf Coast
Showers and storms this afternoon with a high of 76. Showers and storms ending tonight with a low of 57.
