An Alabama man was indicted this week for allegedly having an illegal machine gun, federal officials said.
A federal grand yesterday indicted a Bessemer man for illegal possession of a machine gun, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Carlton L. Peeples.
A one-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges De’Andre Dewayne Moore, 20, with possession of a machine gun.
According to the indictment, in December 2022, Moore illegally possessed a Glock 9mm pistol equipped with a “Glock switch” – an after-market device designed to illegally convert a semiautomatic Glock pistol into a fully automatic machine gun.
The maximum penalty for possession of a machine gun is 10 years in prison.
FBI investigated the case, along with the Bessemer Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Royster is prosecuting the case.
