Alabama Skies: Next round of severe potential on the horizon

Our rainy period begins with some isolated showers or thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. Today is the first day out of several with rain chances and our next severe threat is showing up in the forecast.

The Storm Prediction Center is watching forecast models for Thursday afternoon and evening. Right now, a Level 1 covers much of central and southern Alabama. Right now, the main risks are hail and damaging winds.

North Alabama

Mostly cloudy with a shower or two possible. High of 69. Mostly cloudy tonight with a few showers or thunderstorms possible. Low of 55.

Central Alabama

Mostly cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. High of 74. Mostly cloudy tonight with a shower or storm. Low of 58.

South Alabama

Partly sunny with a few showers or thunderstorms possible. High of 82. Mostly cloudy tonight with a shower possible. Low of 59.

Gulf Coast

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. High of 80. Partly cloudy tonight with a low of 63.
