An Alabama woman has been charged with sending obscene text messages and images to children, sheriff’s investigators said.

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims said the investigation began in early March when deputies became aware of an adult that had been messaging inappropriate messages, images and videos to minors in Marshall County School District and surrounding city schools.

An investigation was initiated into the allegation.

Search warrants were obtained for several social media accounts and interviews were conducted with victims, leading investigators to obtain warrants for Kasie Renea Stone, 40, of Scottsboro, on 2 counts of electronic solicitation of a child less than 16, transmitting obscene matter to a child by computer, and possession of obscene matter with a bond of $250,000.

More charges are expected in Marshall County as well as surrounding counties. We believe there may be other victims and we encourage them to call Marshall County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency to make a report.

“We take crimes against children very seriously and will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our communities,” Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims said. “With smartphones and app technology, our children can become targets for sexual predators. We ask that parents know what social media apps are on their children’s phones and monitored their activity”.
