An Alabama murder suspect who was out on bond awaiting his trial was arrested Sunday after sheriff’s deputies say they caught him trying to smuggle contraband into the county jail.

Allen John Hoe, who was currently out on bond for murder, was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Hoe is accused of promoting prison contraband after he tried to smuggle cellphones, lighters and other items into the Monroe County Detention Facility through the lobby restroom, sheriff’s investigators said.

Deputies recognized Hoe and discovered his actions before the contraband was able to enter into the inmate housing area.

He was booked on multiple counts of promoting prison contraband where he awaits an initial hearing.
