Authorities have identified a 5-year-old child who was killed in an automobile crash Thursday.

Jefferson County Coroner’s Office officials said Jamarious Roper, 5, of Birmingham, died at UAB Hospital after he was injured in a car wreck earlier in the day.

Roper was reportedly riding in the back seat of a car traveling on 9th Street in Bessemer when the vehicle was struck in the side by another motorist.
