Alabama teen killed in head-on collision, troopers say

An Alabama teenager was killed Monday night in a head-on collision, state troopers reported.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Monday, and claimed the life of a Jasper teen.

The 17-year-old was fatally injured when the 2016 Nissan Versa the youth was driving collided head-on with the 2016 Toyota Highlander driven by Sheri B. McReath, 59, of Jasper.

The youth was pronounced deceased at the scene.

McReath was injured and transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 257 near the 3 mile marker, approximately 2 miles north of Jasper, in Walker County.
