Alabama Skies: Enjoy the sunshine today; rainy week on the way

Today is going to be a gorgeous day with sunny skies, cooler temperatures, and less humidity. It won’t last long, however, as rain returns to the state tonight with rain chances just about every day this week.

A storm survey team confirmed an EF-3 occurred in Madison County between 3:09 and 3:25 a.m. Saturday. One fatality was reported with five people injured in the 12-mile track. Peak winds were estimated at 160 miles per hour.

No severe weather is projected in the state this week at this time, but our neighbors in Mississippi already have Level 1 and Level 2 risks Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. We’ll be keeping an eye on that approaching system to be sure the threat doesn’t expand any into Alabama.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high of 68. Increasing clouds tonight with a few scattered showers possible. Low of 53.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a high of 74. Showers and thunderstorms tonight with a low of 54.

South Alabama

Gulf Coast
