An Alabama woman was arrested Thursday after sheriff’s deputies say she stabbed her 8-year-old son to death.

Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputies said Jennifer Long, 41, of Hartselle, Alabama, was arrested early Thursday after deputies were called to a residence on Village Drive.

Deputies said they were approached by a man who told them he had been stabbed by his daughter and that he feared for the safety of his 8-year-old grandson.

As deputies entered the house they found Long coming down the stairs and she allegedly told the deputies that the 8-year-old was dead. Deputies found the boy stabbed to death in a bed.

Long is charged with capital murder.
