An ex-Alabama police officer has been indicted for murder in the 2022 death of a pedestrian, officials said Friday.

Former Tuscumbia police officer Jay Steward was indicted on murder charges in the death of Terry Hinton on October 2022 in Colbert County.

The indictment alleges Steward was under the influence and driving a marked police car at the time of the death.
