An Alabama man was killed on Sunday after his motorcycle struck a culvert, state troopers reported.

Troopers said Steven M. Smith, 46, of Haleyville, Alabama, sustained fatal injuries when his 2000 Honda Valkyrie motorcycle left the road and struck a culvert. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Newberg Road, approximately 5 miles north of Haleyville.
