An Alabama woman was killed Friday when her car struck a bridge column, state troopers say.

Alabama state troopers said 70-year-old Janice B. Crutcher was killed at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday when her Ford Fusion left the road, struck a guard rail, then a bridge column on Interstate 459, approximately 4 miles east of Irondale.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
