An Alabama high school teacher was arrested Thursday after police say he solicited a sex act from a student.

Opelika police said they were notified on February 8 by the Opelika City Schools Administration of an incident that allegedly occurred between a high school student and a member of the Opelika High School faculty.

After an investigation, detectives arrested Montre Learius Battle, 37, of Cusseta, Alabama. He was placed on administrative leave after the initial allegation and was arrested Thursday.

He was charged with a misdemeanor charge – a school employee soliciting a sex act with a student under the age of 19.
