An Alabama woman who worked as an elderly person’s caretaker has been indicted by a grand jury, accused of stealing $91,000 from the person by writing checks to herself from the victim’s bank account.
Decatur police said they arrested Melissa Ann Hale, 48, after a Department of Human Resources investigation.
Hale is accused of forging 29 checks from the victim’s account and depositing them into her personal bank account.
She was arrested last week on a single count of first-degree theft and 10 counts of third-degree possession of a forged instrument.
