The Storm Prediction Center has increased the severe threat level for Thursday’s severe storms.
A new Level 3 enhanced risk covers a large portion of the state, including Huntsville, Florence, and Cullman in north Alabama and makes a diagonal line to include western areas, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, Selma, and Butler.
The Storm Prediction Center expects tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail in this enhanced risk area tomorrow. Threats begin around noon for places along the Alabama/Mississippi line. The line will move east throughout the afternoon with threats ending about midnight in eastern portions.
Much of the rest of Alabama remains under a Level 2 risk.
