Alabama Skies: Soggy weather ending today as we watch potential for tornadoes later this week

Things will finally start to dry out some today for most of us just in time for grilling this afternoon for the big game. It will still be chilly for most of the state with some breezy conditions.

The Storm Prediction Center posted an interesting graphic, seen above. We know it has been storm across Alabama with several severe systems. The graphic shows all of the tornado watches issued so far this year, and It’s easy to see why some call our region the new “Tornado Alley,” especially this time of year. That doesn’t change anytime soon as we are already gaining confidence there will be some severe weather Wednesday night into Thursday. This biggest questions right now are exactly where the worst storms will be and which modes of severe weather people will experience.

North Alabama

Showers ending early, then cloudy before gradually clearing later in the day. High of 56. Winds could gust up to 25 miles per hour. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 33.

Central Alabama

A few remaining showers this morning, then clearing with a high of 53.

Southern Alabama

Cloudy early before becoming clear later today. High near 57. Mostly clear tonight with a low near 33.

Gulf Coast

Partly sunny early, then becoming sunny with a high of 59. Clear tonight with a low of 36.
