An Alabama sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with rape and sodomy.

Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler Murphy, was charged Thursday evening with rape and sodomy, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation into Murphy’s case began on January 24 and Murphy was immediately placed on leave.

By Thursday’s arrest he was no longer employed at the sheriff’s office.
