Alabama Skies: Rain, chance of severe weather today

Our rainy stretch begins today, and the forecast now agrees with the models that began hinting at the chance for some severe weather. Most of Alabama will just have some heavy rain and thunderstorms, but southern parts of the state, especially the Gulf Coast region, may have some storms on the stronger side with hail, strong winds, and even an isolated tornado.

Rain could be heavy at times and there may be some fog in places so use caution driving today.

North Alabama

Showers throughout the region today with a high of 54 degrees and wind gusts up to25 miles per hour. Rain continues today with a low near 47. Rainfall up to an inch and a half possible.

Central Alabama

Showers begin in the late morning with a high near 60. Showers continue tonight with a low around 53.

South Alabama

Showers starting after lunch with a high of 64. Rain continues tonight with a low of 55.

Gulf Coast

A chance of showers and storms and a high near 70. Some storms could be severe. Rain continues tonight with a low of 60.
