Four Illinois men who police believe traveled to Alabama in a planned store burglary in which $34,000 in luxury purses were stolen have been arrested in Kentucky.
Birmingham police said, Patrick Dudley, 23, Monro Shivers, 30, Alexis Trader, 31, and Fontain Plummer, 36, are all charged with burglary and theft after a Wednesday morning break-in at the Belk store in the Riverchase Galleria.
The break-in occurred in the wee hours Wednesday. The store’s alarm alerted police to the burglary, but the suspects were gone before police arrived. Approximately $34,000 in luxury handbags and purses were stolen, police said.
Investigators developed a description of the suspects’ vehicle and Kentucky State Police spotted the car on Interstate 65 near Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The suspects reportedly attempted to flee troopers but were eventually stopped. Police said they found evidence of the burglary in the car.
Authorities said they do not believe the suspects have any connection to Alabama and thus believe the four traveled to the Hoover, Alabama, mall just to complete the burglary.
