Armed Alabama man charged with sexual assault, fleeing from police

An Alabama man was arrested Saturday after a brief foot chase with law enforcement officers and was charged with sexual assault and other charges.

Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Saturday to a sexual assault report in Lacey’s Spring.

After interviewing the victim, Deputies and Investigators developed Christopher Walter Hutchens, 23, of Lacey’s Spring, as a suspect.

Deputies and investigators attempted to contact Hutchens who fled on foot from a residence on Mack Brown Road in Lacey’s Spring.

Deputies and Investigators located the subject in a wood line where he proceeded to brandish a handgun.

Deputies were able to disarm the subject and take him into custody.

Investigators have charged Hutchens with:

  • Sex Offense-Sexual Contact – Compulsion – No Consent
  • Attempting to Elude a Police Officer (Misdemeanor)
  • Menacing (Gun)
  • Bond was set at $200,600.00.

    Hutchens was transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail.
