An Alabama man shot and killed his wife before another relative, who saw the domestic shooting, pulled a gun and shot and killed the husband, sheriff’s deputies said.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they are investigating the fatal killings that happened Friday night.

Deputies said they were called to a home off Greenway Drive for a domestic dispute. The person who called told the dispatcher that Scott Blackwell was armed with a pistol and acting suspiciously.

Before deputies arrived, witnesses said Blackwell became violent with his wife Cindy and shot her.

A family member then shot Scott Blackwell, deputies said.

Deputies said the matter remains under investigation, but that the initial witness accounts indicate the relative who shot Scott Blackwell appears to have done so to protect others from him.
