An Alabama man was killed early Sunday morning when his truck struck a tree and overturned, Alabama state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1:38 a.m. Sunday, and claimed the life of a Salem, Alabama, man.

Joshua R. Woodard, 28, was fatally injured when the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, Alabama state troopers report.

Woodard was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Russell County 77, approximately nine miles west of Phenix City, in Russell County.
