Alabama police say a would-be armed robber was thwart Friday night by an armed citizen who unleashed a hail of bullets on the suspect.

Andalusia police said they responded to two calls on Friday night.

One call was from a man who said he had been sitting outside in his vehicle at his home when a person wearing a mask and carrying a firearm approached him and attempted to rob him.

The gutsy citizen drew his own firearm and started firing back at the suspected robber.

The second call was from Andalusia Health hospital who reported they were treating a patient who had been shot.

It didn’t take long for police to figure out the two calls were connected.

The shooter as well as witnesses identified the would-be robber as Diandre Nicholas Sheridan, 18.
