An Alabama man was killed Monday night when he was struck by a motor vehicle, officials reported Tuesday.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the 63-year-old man was struck and killed at approximately 5:50 p.m Monday at the intersection of 18th Avenue North and 15th Street North in Bessemer.

Coroner’s office leaders said the man has been identified, but it was not clear if the family had been notified, so the victim’s name was not immediately released.

The man was transported to UAB Hospital where he died of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
