An Alabama juvenile was critically injured Sunday evening in what police say appears to be an accidental, self-inflicted shooting.

Huntsville, Alabama, police said they were investigating the incident that occurred at approximately 5:39 p.m. Sunday on Julia Street.

The victim was not identified, but was reportedly transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
