An Alabama man accused of stabbing his roommate more than 100 times and dismembering her body was angry because she refused to have sex with him, the sheriff investigating the case said.

Justin Fields, 38, is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, after the body of his girlfriend, Tammy Bailey, 52, severely wounded and decapitated inside their Springville residence they shared, though in separate rooms.

Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon said Fields has confessed to the murder.

Moon said Fields and Bailey had apparently gone out together and upon returning, he propositioned her to have sex with him. When she declined his advances, Moon said, Fields stabbed her once. Although investigators believe that the initial attack likely killed her, at some point later, Fields decapitated her and severed at least one of her limbs before police were called after a relative sought their help to check on Bailey.
