An Alabama man charged in the 2018 killing of 4-month-old has pleaded guilty to the crime, a local TV station reported.

Markeise Caldwell was charged with killing Kendrick Cole, a 4-month-old. Cole was the child of Caldwell’s girlfriend, WKRG-TV reported.

The baby died of blunt-force trauma, police said.

By pleading guilty, Caldwell avoided a possible death sentence, instead receiving life in prison for the crime with no possibility of parole.
