Alabama teen killed when sports car hits tree, overturns

An Alabama teen was killed Saturday when his sports car struck a tree and overturned, state police said.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:48 p.m. Saturday and claimed the life of an Opelika man.
Nicholas E. Northern, 19, was fatally injured when the 1993 Mazda Miata he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, state police said.
Northern was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Lee County 145, approximately eight miles east of Opelika, in Lee County.
