An Alabama juvenile has died due to injuries sustained in a Wednesday evening Coosa County ATV accident.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said in a release the accident occured on Pelican Lane in Coosa County about 11 miles southwest of Sylacauga.

“The 17-year-old was seriously injured when the 2017 Polaris Razor ATV, in which the youth was a passenger, left the roadway and struck a tree before overturning,” ALEA said. “The ATV was driven by Taylor L. Thomas, 19, of Sylacauga.”

ALEA said neither occupant was using a seat belt and were ejected from the ATV. Both were transported to a local hospital where the 17-year-old later succumbed to injuries.

ALEA said nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.
