This week marks eleven years in the unsolved cold case of Delange Harris’s murder.

Harris’ body was found on May 3, 2011 on Athens Church Road in Goshen, Alabama. He has just turned 25. He lived in Luverne, was a Brantley High School graduate and worked at Beacon Clinic in Luverne.

“This case is on-going and has not nor will it ever be forgotten,” Chief Investigator M. Strickland said. “Sheriff Mears has worked diligently with his investigators to work new leads, gather new evidence and solicit the FBI for assistance in bringing this case to a close with the person(s) responsible for his untimely death.”

Crenshaw County Sheriff Terry Mears has worked the case since he became sheriff and took it over. Mears is urging the public to come forward with any and all information about the Harris case.

“The smallest bit of information may be the piece to the puzzle that solves this case,” Strickland said.  “Help us give this family closure and justice. Delange Harris was a special part to his family, friends and community.”

Mears is now working with the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI to close the case and bring justice to Harris’s family.

“I petitioned the FBI to help us with this case because they have a lot more resources than we do and even more than the state has,” Mears said. “We are not letting this thing die. I inherited this case and I have continued to work it throughout my years as sheriff. Our hope is that the FBI can streamline the work we have already completed and help us close the case.”
