One man is dead in a Monday afternoon shooting that wounded an Alabama police chief.

Priceville Chief of Police Rick Williams was shot while responding to the call, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reported on social media.

Bradley James Ellison, of Priceville, was also shot in the incident with officers near Emory Drive in Priceville off Alabama 67.  Ellison died from his injuries, the post said.

Williams’ injury in the shooting were thought to be non-life-threathening. Williams was transported by air to Decatur Morgan Hospital.

The shooting remains under investigation.
