Officials are investigating the discovery of a premature fetus at a Mobile wastewater treatment facility.

Fox10 News in Mobile reports that a spokesperson with the Mobile Police Department confirmed that the fetus was found during a cleanup at the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System Sewage & Water treatment Center on Conception Street Road.

A worker at the plant reportedly spotted the fetus in a machine that screens wastewater.

Fox10 News reports that Mobile Police homicide detectives were called to the facility to investigate.
