Alabama officials search for University Alabama student along riverwalk. Clothing items found in river.

Alabama police are asking the public’s help in locating a missing University of Alabama student who was last seen Sunday morning.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, 20-year-old Garrett Winston James Walker was last seen leaving a bar on Greensboro Avenue just after 1 a.m. Sunday. Walker’s parents reported him missing after his phone was found near the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.

Tuscaloosa police officials said they received an official missing person report Sunday afternoon. Tuscaloosa and University of Alabama police officers have been searching for Walker, who is from Maryland, since Sunday morning.

Clothing items believed to belong to Walker were found in the Black Warrior River, about a half a mile from where he was last seen.

Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue and Tuscaloosa police will be searching the area at Monday’s first light.
