A man who broke into a home early Wednesday took an 11-month-old child who was later found unharmed, authorities said.

Albertville police said a man entered a home around 4:30 a.m. and assaulted a woman before taking the tot. The man and the woman have another child together, news outlets reported.

The man, identified by authorities as Armando Garcia Morales, 31, told police where to find the baby, who wasn’t harmed. Police launched a search for the man, releasing a photo and asking the public for assistance.

A person using that name on social media later challenged authorities’ account of what transpired in a public post on Facebook. Albertville police replied that the “best thing to do is turn yourself in, then give your side of events.”

The man was last seen in DeKalb County, authorities said.
