A teen was arrested early Wednesday in the slaying of a Selma police officer.

News sources report that Javonte Cornuis Stubbs, 18, has been charged with two counts of capital murder of a police officer and attempted murder.  One of the capital murder charges is for killing a law enforcement officer and the other is for firing into an occupied building.

Stubbs is being held in the Chilton County Jail in after being arrested for the killing of 25-year-old Officer Marquis Moorer.

The attempted murder charge is for the shooting of a woman who has been described only as Moorer’s “significant other.”

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said Stubbs was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and SBI agents at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

Jackson said that the shooting happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday in an area near Selma Square and Woodrow Avenue. Moorer was reportedly going home on a meal break when the shooting took place.

Stubbs reportedly opened fire into Moorer’s apartment, Jackson said.
