Officers with the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division made an eventful boat ride for an Alabama couple even more memorable when they interrupted the couple’s engagement boat proposal with a request for license and registration.

AWFF posted photos of their officers with the newly engaged couple on Facebook this weekend after stopping McKensie Boyd and her fiance Tyler Cunningham on Lake Tuscaloosa. Cunningham had just finished proposing to Boyd when the officers inquired about the use of life jackets and fire extinguishers.

AWFF used the tongue-in-cheek moment to stress the importance of practicing boat safety on the water.

The posting on social media was met with humorous comments. No word as to whether the officers will be invited to the wedding.
