An Alabama man was killed and a child was injured in a boating accident on an Etowah County Lake Saturday.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Benjamin Dale Owens of Pinson, 35, was killed in the accident, which occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday.

ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division responded to the accident on Neely Henry Lake in Gadsden. Owens was reportedly being pulled on a tube by a vessel that struck a concrete bridge support on the I-759 bridge.

An 11-year-old was also injured and taken to Children’s of Alabama. No additional details were released.
