Alabama officials are investigating a domestic dispute that turned deadly when a woman appeared to repeatedly drive over her boyfriend multiple times with a vehicle.
When Jefferson County deputies responded to a call on Pawnee Village Road shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, they found a male unresponsive. The man, who appeared to be in his 60s, was pronounced dead on the scene.
After reviewing video footage, deputies were able to identify the female suspect in the case as 46-year-old Tomeka Sims. Sims was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.
Sims and the male victim had been in a longtime dating relationship, officials said.
Authorities say the video shows two people in some type of disagreement. During the disagreement, the female reportedly gets into the victim’s car and drives away, dragging the man along the ground. The male victim then falls to the ground.
The female then appears to return to the scene and appears to drive over the victim multiple times, authorities say. Officials say the female then left the scene, only to return in the victim’s car a second time. Authorities say the woman tried to drive over the man again but was unsuccessful because the man’s body had rolled under a tractor-trailer bed.
Officials say the suspect did not offer the victim medical assistance at any point before driving away in his car for the final time.
