One person died and another person was injured in a plane crash in Cullman County on Saturday.
Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick on Sunday identified the victim as John T. Sigman. Sigman was 70 years old and from Dyersburg, Tenn., which is about an hour and a half north of Memphis.
The single-engine aircraft crashed Saturday evening in a wooded area about half a mile west of the airfield at Cullman Regional Airport.
The deadly crash came one day after a U.S. Air Force pilot and Japanese student pilot were killed in when a trainer jet crashed near Dannelly Field in Montgomery.
Kilpatrick said Frederick “Noah” Dawson Holloway, the pilot, was the other person injured the crash. His condition is unknown, though Kilpatrick said he believes he is in the hospital.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, and the Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating, Kilpatrick said.
