Two people were found dead late Monday after police responded to reports of a person down in an Alabama home.

One of the deaths is being investigated as a homicide, police said. So far, the other death is under investigation and has yet to be classified.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said officers responded at 10:40 p.m. Monday at a west Birmingham home. When they arrived on the scene, officers found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

A second person — who was also unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound — was located in a nearby bedroom.

Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene.
