Suspect in Missouri homicide found dead in Alabama

A suspect in a Missouri homicide was found dead Saturday in a Cullman County home, authorities said.

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Justin Chase Stevens was found dead in the West Point area in Cullman.

Stevens was named a person of interest in an ongoing murder investigation in Missouri after 46-year-old Becci D. Sanders was found dead in her home earlier this month.

Stevens’ whereabouts after the incident were unknown, but has connections to Alabama. Stevens had outstanding warrants in Cullman County.

The sheriff’s office reportedly receiving information that Stevens was in the area.

When Cullman County authorities came to the house, investigators attempted to communicate with Stevens but were unable to get a response. After multiple failed attempts, deputies made entry into the building and found Stevens deceased.

Local authorities believe Stevens died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
